About the Artist
Allan Chow
Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Allan Chow’s creative journey began when he moved to the States as a teenager. Inspired by his Malaysian and American culture, Allan’s natural instincts as a painter is manifested through his exuberant colors, bold paint strokes and irresistable textures that set him apart from his peers and made his paintings one of the most preferred and collected in the country today.
His Paintings
Allan is a painter of the abstract sky and Flint Hills captures the dynamic beauty and expansive views of this unique landscape through bold, textured strokes. Using a palette knife, he create layers of vibrant colors, blending and contrasting to depict the ever-changing sky over the rolling, grassy hills. The abstract nature allows for an expressive interpretation, focusing on the mood and atmosphere rather than detailed realism. The Flint Hills are often portrayed with sweeping, undulating lines and patches of earth tones, while the sky above may be a blend of deep blues, soft pinks, fiery oranges, and subtle purples, suggesting different times of day and its perpetual conditions. The overall effect is one of movement and emotion, drawing the viewer into the vastness and serenity of the scene. Allan has established a national following with his sophisticated style and obvious passion for painting.
Represented by Prairiebrooke Arts Gallery, Kansas, Allan is a highly regarded painter of abstracted landscapes of the Kansas City skyline, the Flint Hills and San Francisco – all inspiring subjects. Allan’s eye-catching red stamp graces each of his paintings, setting them apart from other works on gallery walls.
Allan’s original paintings and prints belong to prestigious Kansas City-area collections such as H&R Block; the Kansas City Royals; Kansas City Chiefs; BKD; Lewis, Rice and Fingersh Law Firm; Marriott Hotel, the Overland Park Convention Center; the University of Kansas Medical Center; University of Missouri-Kansas City; Russell Stover Candies; and the Kauffman Foundation.
