About

The Artist

Allan Chow (born April 22, 1979) is a Malaysian Chinese born landscape painter who currently resides and owns a studio in the United States. Allan received his BFA in Illustration from the Kansas City Art Institute. Mentored by Illustrators, Allan worked as a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer during his twenties while he experimented with paint after dark. He spent many hours after work struggling to find his identity as a Fine Artist. However, his natural attraction to Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism inspired him to develop a modern interpretation of landscape paintings with a palette knife. Allan's hints of Southeast Asian culture manifests through his exuberant colors, bold paint strokes and irresistable textures that set him apart from his peers and made his paintings one of the most preferred and collected in the country today.

His Paintings

Allan paints with a palette knife, applying thick impasto in brilliant colors found only in dreams. His emotions and passions pour through his spontaneous yet controlled brushstrokes, creating a three-dimensional experience for his audiences. During his exhibitions, viewers find it difficult to resist the temptation to touch his paintings. Allan has established a national following with his sophisticated style and obvious passion for painting.

Represented by the Brandonjacobs Gallery, Phoenix Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri and Strecker Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas, Allan is a highly regarded painter of abstracted landscapes of the Kansas City skyline, the Flint Hills, San Francisco and exuberant still lives – all inspiring subjects. Allan’s eye-catching red stamp graces each of his paintings, setting them apart from other works on gallery walls.

Allan’s original paintings and prints belong to prestigious Kansas City-area collections such as Arrowhead Stadium, Saint Lukes Hospital, H&R Block; the Kansas City Royals; BKD; Lewis, Rice and Fingersh Law Firm; the Overland Park Convention Center; the University of Kansas Medical Center; University of Missouri-Kansas City; Russell Stover Candies; Marriott Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel and the Kauffman Foundation. His work hangs in private collections in Kansas City, New York, Seattle, California, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Allan has received awards from the Societies of Illustrators of Los Angeles, New York and Korea, and he has been featured in the Kansas City Star, The Artist’s Magazine and Visitation Church: A Century of Faith.
